Moskauski Minutes

Curriculum Notes: in math class we will be continuing our study of fractions.  We will continue to look at fractions on the number line and also work on equivalent fractions.

At this point in the school year, it is required that the children learn to memorize their multiplication and division facts.  Multiplication and division are the building blocks for most of what we are learning for the remainder of the year, and is also essential for fourth grade and later years.  Please work with your child on beginning to study a fact a night, until they master the fact--then move on to a new fact.  I will begin quizzing the children (each child working at his or her own pace) on their facts.  More information to come!  Below you will find some links to some multiplication flashcard resources.

In reading we will continue to work on biographies.  The children began biography book clubs.  We will also be looking at putting events of the person's life in chronological order, cause and effect relationships and also look at the person's character traits and motivation.  We will look at author's point of view.  In writing we will continue to move along the Writing process with our realistic fiction writing.

Doing any spring cleaning? We are looking for things to do for cold or rainy days when we have indoor recess.  If you have any old board games, playing cards, dominoes, craft items, etc. that you would like to donate--we would love to have them!
Other items from our classroom wish list are: pencils, pencil cap erasers and treasure chest items.  Thank you so much.

Writing residency was a huge success!  Please check out Ms. Wilde's blog for posts about our class.

Recorders: in Monday folders you will find a letter from Ms. Zelasky about purchasing a recorder.  The children are so excited to get started!

World Down Syndrome Day: is Friday March 21st!  Have your child participate in the "lots of socks" campaign.  All you have to do is wear lots of fun, funky colorful socks!  :)
